Sara Weingartner is a painter, children's book illustrator, writer and graphic designer, who wants to spread joy, hope and laughter through the art and stories she creates. ​She mixes traditional media (primarily acrylic, watercolor and ink) with digital to create her illustrations.
Her first job made her a graphic designer. She quickly missed painting, so she began creating whimsical art and discovered picture books. Sara taught illustration to 5 through 8-year olds at two separate Academies. Then she received a children's art commission that amounted to over 45 paintings. These hang in the neonatal and surgical corridors at three children's hospitals. To date, she has illustrated 11 picture books, even won some awards, and now is writing her own stories. Sara was a PB Party 2023 Illustration Finalist.
Sara graduated with a studio arts degree, spent a semester in Florence, Italy, and has never stopped learning. She has taken numerous illustration and writing courses. Sara is a member of 12x12 writing community and was a member of SCBWI for many years.
She is doing what she loves every single day. Sara lives in Minneapolis, MN, with her family and adorable Morkie, Luna.
